AUSTIN, Texas — UND freshman Connor Davis has four points in his first five college games. The forward from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que., spoke to the Herald this week about topics on and off the ice. Q. Is French your first language? A. No, it s not. I grew up in Montreal. I went to a private school growing up. To survive growing up playing hockey in Quebec, you ve got to know how to speak French. I m pretty fluent in both languages. Q. What sports did you grow up playing? A. Mainly it s been hockey, but growing up, I played a lot of house league soccer. I didn t really do summer hockey growing up, so (I played soccer) to just kind of keep that stamina up and stay in the groove of intensity. A little bit of golf, but not too much. Q. I know you wanted to play here. How did you discover North Dakota when you grew up in Quebec? A. Growing up in Quebec, no one really goes to college for hockey. It s always QMJHL. Luckily, school has always been a huge part of my life. M
